People with dry skin need a special skin care regime in order to maintain a healthy glowing skin. The main problem that people with dry skin face is that it tends to crack and look drab. However there are simple tips that you need to follow and you shall be able to maintain a healthy skin.

The first and foremost rule for a glowing skin is to keep it hydrated and for that you need to augment your water intake per day. All the water you consume prevents the skin from being parched and hence does not dry up. The water intake should be good at all times of the year. Do not think that you can ease up on your skin care regime during winters assuming that your skin does not need too much water. It is a myth that the skin’s requirement for water goes down during cold weathers. Just because you are not thirsty does not mean that your skin does not need water. In winters the dry and cold winds also cause excessive drying up of the skin and the skin care regime may be altered accordingly but the water intake should continue to be good.

The second rule to follow is to keep your skin moisturized at all times. Use a moisturizer depending on the season but it is a must to apply it. A moisturizer can work in tandem with water to keep the skin well hydrated and moist. As a dry skin is the perfect point of attack by bacterial, viral and fungal infections using a moisturizer daily would also effectively fight off infections too apart from keeping your skin glowing. When you use a moisturizer do not restrict its usage to the face but use all over the body.

Honey is a good natural moisturizer for dry skin. You may use it as a pack either all by itself or in combination with a fruit pulp like that of mango or papaya. Let the mask dry and then wash it off with plain water. Be careful when you wipe your face with a towel as excessive rubbing can worsen a dry skin. You should just use your towel as a blotting paper and dab it lightly on the face. If you have a dry skin all over the body then you can apply honey all over and let it dry for 10 minutes and wash off.

Do not use harsh soaps; switch to gentle body wash that has a high percentage of moisturizing cream in it. Avoid using too hot warm as it can increase the dryness of the skin. Try to keep the water as cold as it is comfortable for you. When choosing any products to apply on your skin just go through the list of ingredients and see to it that they are rich in vitamin E, D and A. Cocoa butter, olive oil, shea butter can also be included in your skin care regime and watch your skin come alive with its radiant beauty.
